"Carreaux d’Automne" cotton plaid fabric, from the French brand Singulière x Cousette.

Timeless and cosy, this plaid cotton fabric takes its inspiration from country-style shirts, reimagined in a soft palette of camel, burgundy and navy.

Its lightweight cotton weave makes it an ideal fabric for making shirts, dresses, skirts or children’s clothes.

Natural fabrics tend to shrink by 5 to 7 per cent, so it is important to wash the fabric before cutting it and to take this shrinkage into account when calculating the amount of fabric you need.

To ensure your lovely fabrics stay in the best possible condition, we recommend washing them before sewing; this will help to stabilise the fabric.

• Wash your fabric in a washing net to preserve the colors.
• Choose a mild detergent without bleach.
• Wash your fabric with a delicate or silk program, temperature max 30 °
• Gentle spin (max 800 rpm)
• Dry your laundry in the open air, taking care to smooth it out when it comes out of the machine, tumble dryer prohibited, of course!
• Iron at medium temperature (150 °)
